Felis catus. A family friend, a boy of 9, was once terrorized by a benign, elderly member of the species: the boy’s mother and I were chatting quietly over a cup of tea. Overhead, a shrieking erupts from a second-floor bedroom, the banister trembles as the kid comes hurtling downstairs, catapults himself over the sofa, bawling: He’s hunting me! He’s hunting me! Who is? Felis catus — with his supernatural stare.

Here, a triple portrait of Morgan, Noah and Isaac — this cat in a benevolent mood…
